Join the #WhereDoYouMoss Photo Challenge
To celebrate the launch of Moss Safari: Exploring the Secret Life in Moss, I’m inviting you to take part in the #WhereDoYouMoss photo challenge – a joyful, leafy, microscope-friendly competition to see where you are reading the book.
Whether you’re curled up with it in a mossy glade or reading it on a beach in Barbados (jealous, but delighted), I’d love to see!

Pick one category… or go wild and enter them all:
- The Mossiest
Reading Moss Safari while surrounded by glorious green fluff? On a log, in a bog, or with your dog? This one’s for you. Extra points for real moss, maximum moss, or mossy puns. - The Most Scientific
Break out the microscopes! Whether you’re in a lab coat, a classroom, or just surrounded by science gear and enthusiasm – show us the scientific spirit of your Moss Safari. - The Most Apt Landmark
Get creative. Reading Moss Safari at the Eden Project? In front of the Natural History Museum? Outside your local recycling centre because you’re deeply committed to climate themes? Perfect. - Where in the World?
We’re on a mission to see how far the moss can spread. Whether you’re in Manchester or Madagascar, show us your location (roughly!) and be part of the global moss map.
What You Can Win
Winners in each category will receive a Moss Safari Merch Pack, featuring exclusive stickers, badges, and mossy goodies.
Selected entries will also be featured in the official Moss Safari Gallery and a Winners & Highlights blog post!

How to Enter
- Take a photo of you (or your surroundings) with your copy of Moss Safari (print or e-book – both welcome).
- Post it on Instagram, Twitter/X, BlueSky, or Facebook.
- Tag Moss Safari and use the hashtag #WhereDoYouMoss
- Mention your chosen category in the caption.
You can enter more than once – in fact, I encourage it. Why settle for just mossy when you can be mossy and scientific?

- The competition is open internationally to anyone aged 18 or older.
- By entering, you confirm that you own the rights to your photo and are happy for Moss Safari to repost or share your image with credit.
- Selected entries may be featured in the Moss Safari Gallery on our website and included in a Winners & Highlights blog post.
- All entries must feature Moss Safari: Exploring the Secret Life in Moss by Dr Andy Chandler-Grevatt (physical or digital).
- Entries must be posted between 17 June and 14 July 2025 using the hashtag #WhereDoYouMoss and tagging @MossSafari.
- There is no limit to the number of entries per person.
